STO Details revealed on the anniversary ships - vom 30.01.2012, 00:06 [WP]Aesthir
Greetings all!

As you all know by now, the second anniversary of Star Trek Online will start on 10 AM PST on Thursday, February 2nd, and end around the same time on Monday, February 6th.
During this event there is an opportunity to pick up the new Federation or Klingon cruiser for free!

All Federation characters of at least level 5 will be able to acquire the new Odyssey class starship for free. You must be a Vice Admiral to operate the Odyssey class starship. Any character below Vice Admiral rank will receive an inventory item that can be opened later, upon achieving Vice Admiral, in order to access the ship.

All Klingon Defense Force characters of at least level 21 will be able to acquire the new Bortas class starship for free. You must be a Lt. General to operate the Bortas class starship. Any character below Lt. General rank will receive an inventory item that can be opened later, upon achieving Lt. General, in order to access the ship.

Some data on these ships have been released, as posted below.

The pinnacle of Federation starship design, the Odyssey Star Cruiser will carry the Federation into a new generation of exploration.

In honor of this monumental technological achievement, Starfleet Command has authorized the construction of a new flagship. This vessel, the U.S.S. Enterprise-F, will embolden its crew to embrace the principles of exploration and cooperation that are the hallmarks of the Federation. In the Odyssey class, crews will explore strange new worlds, seek out new lifeforms and new civilizations and boldly go where no ship has gone before.

The Odyssey class is the largest vessel ever created by Starfleet. Its massive size makes it very resilient, but its turn rate is reduced by the bulk of the vessel. The Odyssey's unique split saucer pylon reduces subspace wake at higher warp speeds. The Odyssey is designed as an extreme long-range vessel, and can operate for long periods of time away from support. Because of this, it is the most versatile cruiser ever developed by the Starfleet Corps of Engineers and features Universal Ensign and Lieutenant Commander Bridge Offer Stations that can by operated by any Bridge Officer class.

Requires: Vice Admiral rank (level 50)

Weapons: 4 Fore, 4 Aft
Device Slots: 4
Console Upgrades: 2 Tactical, 4 Engineering, 3 Science

Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Lieutenant Tactical, 1 Commander Engineering, 1 Lieutenant Science, 1 Ensign Universal, 1 Lieutenant Commander Universal

Hull Strength: 42,000
Maximum Warp: 9.996
Turn Rate: 6
Impulse Modifier: 0.15
Shield Modifier: 1.15

+10 Power to Shields, +10 Power to Auxiliary

Not content to rest on their laurels, the KDF engineering teams at the Ty'Gokor Fleet Yards have been hard at work advancing Klingon ship design into the 25th century. When Chancellor J'mpok demanded a new, more powerful flagship to lead the Empire, they were ready with the Bortas, a ship that will bring swift vengeance to enemies of the Empire.

The Bortas Battle Cruiser is the largest, most powerful battle cruiser in the Klingon arsenal. Its massive hull affords it incredible resilience in battle, but it sacrifices turn rate for that size. The Bortas is designed to take on any foe no matter how powerful, and because of that is designed with versatility in mind. It features Universal Ensign and Lieutenant Commander Bridge Officer Stations that can be operated by any Bridge Officer class.

Requires: Lt. General rank (level 50)

Weapons: 4 Fore, 4 Aft
Device Slots: 4
Console Upgrades: 4 Tactical, 4 Engineering, 1 Science

Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Lieutenant Tactical, 1 Commander Engineering, 1 Lieutenant Science, 1 Ensign Universal, 1 Lieutenant Commander Universal

Hull Strength: 43,500
Maximum Warp: 9.96
Turn Rate: 5.5
Impulse Modifier: 0.15
Shield Modifier: 1.0

+15 Power to Weapons, +5 Power to Engines
Standard Cloaking Device
Can Equip Cannons

STO STO Second Anniversary - vom 26.01.2012, 21:11 [WP]Aesthir
Greetings ladies and gentlewolves,

As it so happens, the 2nd anniversary of Star Trek Online is approaching rapidly, and of course there will be many events and prizes again.

Below is the information as given in Season 5 Dev Diary #12:

We are rapidly approaching Star Trek Online's second anniversary on February 2nd, 2012. To celebrate this moment in Star Trek history, we have four days of fun lined up for you. The event will run from around 10 AM PST on Thursday, February 2nd, through around the same time on Monday, February 6th.

As with many STO events, Q will be the master of ceremonies. Log in each day and seek out Q at Earth Spacedock or Qo’noS, and he’ll have something unusual to do. Q is easily bored and really enjoys watching humanoids do silly things. Complete his task, and he’ll have a fun prize for you! Log in all four days to collect all the prizes. What are they? You’ll have to find out for yourselves by joining in the event.

Q isn’t the only one celebrating, however. Starfleet Command is commissioning the new Odyssey class cruiser starship that weekend. Players level 5 and above should report to Engineer Kani (in front of Admiral Quinn’s office on Earth Spacedock) for a mission to take one of the new Odyssey class ships on a shakedown cruise. Complete the mission to receive an Odyssey class ship of your very own.

When the Klingon Defense Force intelligence service alerted the High Council with Starfleet's activities, they decided to launch their newest ship, the Bortas (Vengeance) class starship the same day. KDF officers level 21 and above should report to Engineer Tum’Era (in front of the Great Hall on Qo’noS) for a similar shakedown mission. Those who complete the mission will earn a Bortas class ship of their own to command.

These two ships will be free to everyone during the event, regardless of level or rank. The ships require you be level 50 to fly them in combat, so characters of lower level will find an item in their inventory that they cannot use until they reach level 50. After the event, these two ships will no longer be obtainable for a while. We have not finalized details yet on when they will return, but we will announce the details once we have them.

The specifications on these starships are classified at this time, but if you watch this communication channel over the next couple of days, we’ll give you a sneak peek of these incredible ships.

Starships and prizes are just part of the celebration. The real joy comes from seeing so many people enjoying the universe Roddenberry created, and sharing in the experience online. I look forward to seeing you all in the Star Trek universe for the celebration!
